We are Boca Beacon Publications.

Welcome to a little newspaper with a BIG presence.

The Boca Beacon is a weekly newspaper, locally owned by publisher, Dusty Hopkins and his wife, Cheryl. We are located in the center of Boca Grande, on Gasparilla Island in southwest Florida.

In 1980, the Boca Beacon was started as a monthly newspaper with only 12 pages. It progressed to a bi-weekly service, and eventually evolved to it’s current weekly form in 1988.

The Boca Beacon is your island community newspaper. It also serves the communities and barrier islands surrounding Charlotte Harbor, from Lee County through South Sarasota County; with island news peppered with historical insights and flavored by reader’s input.

The Boca Beacon also puts out special publications throughout the year; these include: the Boca Grande Street Map, the island’s Visitor’s Guide, 4-Digit Phone Book, Tarpon Times, Gasparilla Island Magazine, and the Boca Grande Mobile App.

For more information, feel free to visit our website at BocaBeacon.com, where you can read the headlines, and get late-breaking news, weather and fishing reports. On the website you are able to sign up for the E-Edition of the newspaper that will give you the option to read the complete newspaper wherever you go online. Paper copy weekly subscriptions of the newspaper can be purchased here also along with subscriptions to our bi-monthly leisure magazine, Gasparilla Island Magazine, filled with everything Boca Grande and surrounding areas.

All products can also be purchased by calling the Boca Beacon office at 941-964-2995.

Please feel free to call us with any questions you may have with any of our products. We look forward to continue to serve you now, and in the years to come.
