Our Story

We know all good things take time.

The journey to Scarpa’s Coastal of Boca Grande started years ago in Salerno, Italy when the Scarpa family made the decision to emigrate. Finding their way to Central Florida, the family would go on to operate a successful Italian restaurant in the region for nearly two decades. Scarpas’s Italian was born in Lakeland, Florida when the opportunity arose to open a restaurant in the location of the original family business.

Owned and operated by husband and wife team Glenn and Ashley Scarpa, Scarpa’s Italian was conceptualized as drawing inspiration from the past while looking forward towards the Florida coast. The restaurant opened in December of 2013 serving local Florida seafood and Italian classics in a relaxed but refined family environment. The restaurant has continued to grow since its opening with the addition of housemade pastas and a visit by famed chef Emeril Lagassé in 2016 for his show Emeril’s Florida.

The story continues in mid-2018 when Glenn and Ashley were asked to consider lending their talents to another Florida community. After careful planning and months of scouting, Scarpa’s Coastal was born in May of 2019. Located in Boca Grande, Scarpa’s Coastal expands on the idea of fresh Florida seafood with an Italian flair that has become synonymous with the Scarpa’s name.

When Glenn isn’t in the kitchen, you’ll find him saltwater fishing or golfing. When Ashley isn’t managing the dining room, you’ll find her practicing her love of the textile arts which includes needlepoint and quilt making. Together they spend time supporting Florida wildlife conservation efforts and traveling with their family which includes Kacy, Jessie, Sandy, and Brecken.

The two restaurants stand as labors of love and each have their own unique sense of place.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
We’ll see you soon.
